DAYLIGHT LOSS: Summer fans…look away! We are steadily losing daylight at a clip of over 2 minutes per day right now. That means for the month we will lose around 70 minutes of daylight. Earlier sunsets are here as we move through our last 8PM sunsets this week. – 4:00 PM 9/2/25 #fblifestyle

DROUGHT OUTLOOK: Well, this should not be too much of a shocker. But, we expect drought development across the Buckeye State this month due to very dry conditions. Those near Toledo already are in drought, and that is forecast to persist.

For many, August ended 1-3″ below normal on rainfall. This is not a great trend, and we start September very dry. It may not be as intense as last year, but let’s hope we can reverse this trend before the month is over. In terms of Fall color, for some it might be too late to reverse this and get good colors. – 2:40 PM 9/2/25 #fblifestyle

COLD FRONT: We are tracking a cold front set to bring rain to the area Thursday morning! This will not be an all-day rain, but we will take what we can! During the afternoon, depending on the exact timing, a few storms may develop in eastern Ohio. There is a Level 1 (Marginal) risk of severe storms, but we feel the worst passes east of the state.

POLLEN: Thanks to our continued dry weather we will have higher levels of pollen. Ragweed, Nettle, Chenopods, and Grasses will be the primary drivers today. Relief will arrive by the end of the week thanks to rain chances and a cold front!

TODAY: Another awesome day across the Buckeye State is on tap! Plenty of sunshine with highs in the upper 70s to middle 80s. Humidity remains low and we will see a few clouds moving by. There is a 10% chance of a stray shower in far southern Ohio, but do not cancel plans!

WHAT A TEASE: While a substorm about an hour ago briefly allowed for faint Aurora visibility in Ohio, we wanted to point you to this. We monitor solar winds (not KP Index) for the chances to see auroras.

Now, ideally we want the Bz values to be pinned south (negative) for 30+ minutes. Within the last half hour we had a slight pin south, but it quickly bounced back north strongly. It is hard to say what exactly a coronal mass ejection (CME) will do. Does it have some life? Maybe…but this is why we always say “possible” on these, and never “bank on it” or “guarantee.”

We shall see how things unfold. Is it worth losing sleep over? Perhaps not. Depends on your perspective!

ON DECK: The next big ticket item we are watching is another cold front to slide east on Thursday. This brings needed rain, and a few storms perhaps, but we will still be in need of more rain. A dry stretch returns after this front passes. Rainfall totals in general look to be around 0.25-0.50″ for most. – 9:00 PM 9/1/25
