POTENTIAL FREEZING RAIN EVENT
THURSDAY MORNING MINI UPDATE
A potential freezing rain event is expected to occur East of I-75 on Thursday morning (11/15). Precipitation is expected to start as a mix or go straight to freezing rain. The system moves Northeast through the morning and freezing rain changes to a cold plain rain from South to North.
The current focus timeframe is 3:00 AM until 3:00 PM, Thursday (11/15). Individuals expecting to drive in that timeframe, businesses, and school transportation authorities and administrators will want to monitor the situation closely to determine how this potential weather will impact them.
Keep in mind that even 1/100” of a glaze of ice is enough to cause issues on the roads…
Models are detecting anywhere from no icing to a little over 2/10” of icing. Any potential icing is enough to trigger a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain. (The “Freezing Rain Advisory” product no longer exists).
This is a situation worth monitoring as it continues to evolve and we will provide further information as it becomes available.
